If you want a unique and relaxing experience on your iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad then play Capybara Games’ artistic game entitled Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP. You’ll get into an extraordinary and breathtaking adventure as you journey into a beautiful 8-bit pixel environment. With the astounding art coupled with soothing background music, this game is best enjoyed when you’re in a very relaxed state.

Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP follows the story of The Scythian, a warrior who journeys into a mythical forest. Players are guided by The Archetype, a pipe-smoking narrator. The events of the story as well as the dialogues are shown in a text box.

The game’s artwork was made by Craig D. Adams and the music scores were composed by Jim Guthrie. The game does not pressure you to solve puzzles immediately. Instead, it encourages you to feel and observe your surroundings carefully and breathe once in a while. Every step of the way is taken at your own pace.

Its controls are based on a point-and-click system. Once you tap your screen twice on a spot, your character will move. While you’re playing the game, you would have to use its two modes. The sworcery mode is done when your iDevice is horizontally held while you hold your finger on your main character. As soon as your character “sings the song of sorcery”, you will enter the game’s puzzle adventure. On the other hand, if you’re holding your iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad in an upright position, your character will draw her sword and the block and attack functions will appear on your screen. Sometimes you’ll just be holding your sword and point it to the heavens and in some cases you will enter into battle. The battle is played based on good timing. You can also access your Megatome (the inventory and adventure logs) using the portrait position of your iDevice.  If you’re using iPad with a cover, you would need to remove it while playing this game. To tell you the truth, the mode shifts can be inconvenient for iPad users. So it would be best to play Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP on smaller iDevices.

The game has a total of four stages and one of the features of the game is its integration with the moon cycle. The final two stages of the game can be unlocked on the new moon and full moon. Although you can cheat the game by tweaking the date of your iDevice, it’s best to take your time with the game. After all, it’s created to make you relax.

From time to time, you will be prompted to Tweet the in-game dialogues. It’s totally up to you. The game has a Twitter Integration feature which will also let you cooperate with friends who are also enjoying this game. If you love the dialogues yourself, you can just Tweet it and share the game’s various quotes with your Twitter friends.

A lot of players love Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP. See what the can say about the game by reading the reviews below:

“S: S&S EP could be described as “an album you can walk through”; an artistic, emotional presentation that’s far different from the explosion-fests in many games. It uses the capabilities of the iPad–touch, multitouch, rotation–to present a mix of puzzle-solving and action that keeps you involved. The visual artistry is a deliberate simplification, where they convey remarkable amounts of detail with pixelated characters: can you depict an entire human head with two pixels? Yes, if you’re as good as Superbrothers. Then, layered on top is a sense of humor that keeps the story engaging and tempts you to actually use that silly “Tweet” feature. I highly recommend the game, and I especially recommend keeping it plugged into speakers at all times for the maximum effect.”

“One of the comments about the 8 bit-inspired graphics being a downside to the game really irked me. Would you prefer that all art in life were only photographs? If everything had to look realistic, all forms of visual expression would become mundane and boring. The ability to suggest more with less what makes this game impressive more than anything else.”

The various elements of the game mesh well with each other. No wonder Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP is one of the best point-and-click games you will ever find in the App Store. Its pixel environment and animations are creatively made. The lighting and music adds brilliance and creates a breathtaking impact to any gamer. Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP is best played with your headphones.

Overall, Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP is an engaging game with fantastic visual presentation, creatively written dialogues and narrations and a very nice background music. Players will surely enjoy it from start to finish. It’s nice to have a game that offers a unique and relaxing atmosphere. You don’t have to rush things and you can take your time in playing the game. However, random battles can be slightly bothersome because of the tilts you have to make with your iDevice and sometimes you might get lost in solving a puzzle.

You can get this game by downloading it from the App Store. It costs only $4.99 and it’s definitely worth buying. Honestly, Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP is a must-buy for anyone who owns an iDevice. This is not your typical adventure game. If you loved the music of the game, you can get it from iTunes. The game is collaborative work by the Superbrothers, Jim Guthrie and Capy.

If you haven’t played this game yet, download it from the App Store as soon as you can. You’ll be amazed with all the elements this game offers. Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP is definitely a good way of killing time considering that you can use your problem solving skills while relaxing and sipping a cup of coffee.
